Wrigley Bleachers Won’t Be Ready

The 26-week window for the Chicago Cubs to finish construction in the outfield bleachers will not be completed in time, meaning the bleachers will not be ready for Opening Night when the Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Here is MLB.com Cubs writer Carrie Muskat from the Cubs Convention:

Opening Night is the most exciting one at Wrigley in years, as some believe “Next Year” is here on the North Side–at least in terms of a playoff appearance. It’ll be the first chance for Cubs fans to see new ace Jon Lester on the mound against Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals.

In an email sent out to over 1,000 season ticket holders in the bleachers, the Cubs announced that 15 home games will be affected by construction. Season-ticket holders will have the option to be refunded or relocated for those 15 games.

Bleacher bums will have to wait to see their beloved Cubs while the team is under “Cubstruction”, according to President of Business Operations Crane Kenney.

Circle the date May 11th against the Mets for the return of the bleachers in some capacity.
