Vikings Won’t be Releasing Adrian Peterson

NFL Today

The Minnesota Vikings informed star Adrian Peterson’s agent Ben Dogbra they have no plans on cutting the star running back.

While the move is hardly surprising, it does reaffirm the thought that barring a blockbuster trade that would net the Vikings a boatload of picks and players, Adrian Peterson will in all likelihood be playing in Minnesota next season. Peterson has not publicly asked for a trade or to be released and stands to be the league’s highest paid RB, making $12.75M in 2015.

The Dallas Cowboys are the team most mentioned as a potential landing spot for the running back that played in only a single game last season, but with the team’s signing of Greg Hardy yesterday it will take some major salary cap maneuvers to clear enough space for Peterson to return to his home state.

While several teams would love to land a player of Peterson’s caliber, the Vikings aren’t expecting an influx of viable trade partners. The Arizona Cardinals have said his salary is a non-starter for the organization, but Larry Fitzgerald believes it would be a game changer.
