After the Atlanta Hawks staged a furious comeback, Washington Wizards forward Paul Pierce put the final touch on a 103-101 Game 3 victory.
It was a touch off the glass.
The Wizards blew a 21-point lead after Hawks usual-reserve Mike Muscala hit a game-tying three-pointer with 14 seconds left. Following a timeout, the Wizards got the ball into Pierce’s hands and watched him do this:
Pierce scored 13 points as the Wizards once again played without John Wall, who is dealing with a wrist injury. Otto Porter Jr., Bradley Beal and Nene each contributed a team-high 17 points.
The Hawks went on a 17-0 run in the fourth with a lineup of Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Shelvin Mack, Mike Scott and Muscala. It was all for nothing after Pierce’s bank.
