Omar Gonzalez staked the U.S. men’s national team to a lead Wednesday early in the second half of a Gold Cup match against Martinique. Jordan Morris put the team up 2-0 a little over 10 minutes later.

Gonzalez, who scored his second career goal with the U.S. men’s national team in 42 appearances, fielded a deflection off a shot from Paul Arriola a little under eight minutes into the second half in a chance that originated from a Kellyn Acosta corner kick.

Morris then added on to the team’s lead off a stellar cross from Eric Lichaj.

Martinique went on to punch in their first goal of the game two minutes later.
