According to an official statement released by MLB Roster Moves on Wednesday afternoon, the Minnesota Twins have added a pair of veteran right-handers for the 2017 season. The Twins have signed both Ryan Vogelsong and Nick Tepesch to minor league contracts accompanied with invitations to their big league spring training.

The Twins struggled mightily in 2016 while finishing the year with the worst record in the American League.

A longtime member of both the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates, the 39-year-old Vogelsong returned to the “Steel City” once again in 2016. After originally breaking into the big leagues with the Giants back in 2000, he then split the 2001 campaign between San Francisco and Pittsburgh. Remaining in Pittsburgh from 2003 through 2006, Vogelsong reappeared in 2011 as a member of the Giants.

Remaining in the Bay Area through the 2015 season, he then made one last stop with the Pirates before now finding an entirely new home in Minnesota.

Over the course of 24 appearances and 14 starts as a member of the Pirates last season, Vogelsong amassed a 4.81 ERA across 82.1 innings of work. While encountering a devastating facial fracture along the way, he also added a 3-7 record, one hold and 61 strikeouts against 40 walks.

On the other hand, the 28-year-old Tepesch made just one big league appearance last season, which came as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lasting four innings in the spot start, he allowed seven hits, five earned runs and one home run alongside three strikeouts en route to a loss.

His only other big league action came with the Texas Rangers in both 2013 and 2014.
