As originally reported by 24/7 Sports, five-star quarterback prospect Hunter Johnson has gone back on his months-old commitment to the University of Tennessee, deciding instead to commit to Clemson University. Johnson’s announcement comes on the same day that five-star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence also committed to the school.

Current Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson just finished third in Heisman Trophy voting in just his sophomore season. Watson’s passing accuracy of 69.5% was third in the nation amongst regular quarterbacks this season. Watson’s 887 rushing yards on the season also finished third amongst regular quarterbacks. CBSSports lists Watson as the best quarterback of the 2018 Draft class — although the starter’s spot could be available to Johnson if Watson decides to leave for the pros for the 2017 Draft, after his junior year.

Success is proving to be the best possible recruiting tool for Tigers coach Dabo Sweeney. Under his direction, the Tigers have won at least 10 games in each season since 2011, including a bowl game victory in each of the last three seasons. As the nation’s only undefeated team this season, first-seed Clemson will face fourth-seed Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
