Top 10 Atlantic Division Pending UFAs

The playoffs are in full swing, but several teams are already looking toward the summer. General managers are scouting the market to see what available players could be good additions to their clubs.

Some players might sign new deals with their current teams, but as it stands right now they are heading for free agency. We continue our series on the subject by looking at the top-10 pending UFAs in the Atlantic Division.

Jeff Petry (Montreal Canadiens)

NHL: MAY 06 Round 2 - Game 3 - Canadiens at Lightning

Petry has played really well since getting traded from the Edmonton Oilers. With a limited number of defensemen that can play top-4 minutes on the free agent market this summer, Petry should have a number of offers to choose from. He’s a very solid defensive defenseman whose advanced stats are very friendly.

At 27 years old, this is where he should start to enter the golden years of his career, and he probably wants a paycheck that reflects that. He might end up staying with the Canadiens or go to another team that has a good chance off making it deep into the playoffs.
