It felt like the Kansas City Royals may never score another run. That is, until Whit Merrifield went to the plate on Tuesday evening.

The Royals went 45.2 innings without scoring a run, going all the way back to the second inning of a game on Aug. 24. They are 0-14 when not scoring at least one run in a game this season.

While not only ending the streak, the Royals also managed to score a few more runs at home against the Tampa Bay Rays, as Eric Hosmer’s three-run homer in the seventh inning carried K.C. to a 6-2 victory.
