The MAAC and Atlantic Sun are planning to launch a “challenge” between the two leagues during the 2019-20 season, a source told FanRag Sports.

The event is set to be held in Orlando.

Specific details as to how many teams will be featured in the event from each conference are still to be determined.

The MAAC/Atlantic Sun Challenge would be an effort to feature these two mid-major leagues in the way that higher profile leagues are showcased in the early portion of the college basketball season.

Iona represented the MAAC in the NCAA Tournament last season, while Florida Gulf Coast represented the Atlantic Sun.
