Fuente has led the Tigers back to relevance since being named head coach in 2012. He took over a team with five combined wins in three seasons prior to arriving at Memphis and went 26-23, including 9-3 this season.
Memphis went 10-3 last season and ended a six-year bowl drought. They were the American Athletic Conference champions in 2014 — the Tigers’ first conference title in more than 40 years.
Defensive coordinator Bud Foster and associate head coach/running backs coach Shane Beamer will remain with the team, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
