[UPDATE]: The Los Angeles Rams have since made such a move official:

The Los Angeles Rams will be releasing offensive lineman J.J. Dielman, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. However, Rapoport says that the Rams will want to bring Dielman back, indicating that they may want to sign him to the practice squad or for less money.

Dielman, who played his collegiate football at the University of Utah, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round (176th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Bengals waived Dielman on September 2, and he was quickly signed by the Rams the following day. The capable blocker can play both center and guard along the offensive front as well

The 23-year-old was a three-year starter for Utah, starting 31 of the 32 collegiate games in which he appeared. He is the cousin of former NFL guard Kris Dielman, who made four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2007 through 2010 while with the then San Diego Chargers.

Los Angeles’ offensive line was impressive during its 46-9 rout of the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, allowing just one sack and helping second-year quarterback Jared Goff complete 21 of his 29 passes while throwing for 306 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, the Rams scored two rushing touchdowns, one from Todd Gurley and the other from Malcolm Brown.

Los Angeles is trying to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign, when it won eight games and lost in the Divisional Round of the postseason. Since then, the Rams have not registered a winning season, finishing .500 just once. Last year, Los Angeles won only four games.

The Rams will host the Washington Redskins this Sunday.
