Liverpool seems more than a little insistent that they bring 22-year-old Guinean midfielder Naby Keita on board … even though, by all accounts, he isn’t up for sale.

A report from This is Anfield suggests that Liverpool has made a €65 million bid to RB Leipzig for Keita, despite the German side contacting the Premier League club to let them know that the young star isn’t for sale.

Unsurprisingly, multiple reports have confirmed that Leipzig rejected the bid.

The word this summer is that Jurgen Klopp is determined to bring Keita into the fold, with reports that the Guinean is eager to potentially see something happen. He’s been seen as a number-one target for Liverpool, with the side failing to even consider alternatives in the instance that they can’t get something done.

Although Keita has been rumored to be shunning any negotiations for a new deal with his current club, though, Leipzig has been insistent that they won’t budge on their stance of keeping him on board.

There’s always the possibility that something can get worked out in the long run; after all, Gianluigi Donnarumma managed to work out something with AC Milan, and that was seeming all but impossible for a period earlier in the summer.

As This is Anfield points out, though, it’s possible that Liverpool made their most recent bid after Leipzig told them that Keita was off limits – and if that’s the case, it’s possible that Klopp is only going to continue putting on more pressure until something gets worked out.
