The latest Cuban free agent prize, switch-hitting 19-year old phenom Yoan Moncada, will reportedly become a member of the Boston Red Sox.
According to Moncada’s agent, David Hastings, the deal should be done shortly and the signing bonus is rumored to be in the $30M range. The hope is that Moncada will soon be reporting to the Red Sox Spring Training facility located in Fort Meyers, Florida with some Grapefruit League action following.

When asked if it could be as soon as Tuesday, Hastings said, “assuming everything is signed and agreed to, I know [Moncada] would [like to be there then].”
The Red Sox did as most teams when working Moncada out by seeing what the young prospect could do at shortstop, third base, and second base. Depending on how he performs in the Grapefruit League, it’s expected that Moncada will begin his Boston career in the minors.
