The Ray Allen sweepstakes are over and they were anti-climactic to say the least.
The ten-time NBA All-Star announced today that he will not be joining a team for the season’s stretch run.
“Over the past several months, I have taken a lot of time to deliberate what is best for me,” Allen said in a statement released by his agent.
“I’ve ultimately decided that I will not play this NBA season. I’m going to take the remainder of this season, as well as the upcoming off-season, to reassess my situation, spend time with my family and determine if I will play in the 2015-16 season.”

The popular belief was that the player many remember for his acting debut as Jesus Shuttlesworth in He Got Game would pick a front runner and attempt to win a third NBA Championship. Allen, the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made in both the regular season and Playoffs, will turn 40 in July.
