Multiple media outlets are reporting that the end of the Ray Allen semi-retirement sweepstakes may be coming to an end as soon as after the All-Star break.
Allen has yet to play this season as he remains unsigned after playing for the Miami Heat last season. Just about every playoff contender has reached out to Allen, including the Warriors, Hawks, Cavaliers, Wizards, Spurs and Clippers.
The best fit might be the Atlanta Hawks, who have a need after the injury to Thabo Sefolosha. The Cavaliers have ties to Allen because of LeBron James and Mike Miller.
Just because a decision may be imminent, it doesn’t mean that the decision will be to play.
From BasketballInsiders’ Alex Kennedy:
Ray Allen has enjoyed his family time and golf time in Miami, and sources close to him make it clear he may decide not to resume NBA career.
