Peyton Manning will reportedly sit again against the New England Patriots next week, meaning Brock Osweiler will start for the second consecutive game.
Manning is trying to recover from a plantar fascia injury to his left foot. He didn’t play in the Broncos’ 17-15 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Instead, Osweiler led the Broncos to a win, ending the team’s two-game losing streak. Osweiler, making his first career start, completed 20 of 27 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
According to Chris Mortensen, this move is still temporary. Once Manning is healthy, he’s expected to return as the starter, at least for now.
Manning has just nine touchdown passes with 17 interceptions on the year. He leads the NFL in interceptions with five more than Joe Flacco.
Osweiler was a second round pick in 2012 and will be a free agent at the end of the season.
