While it didn’t come as much of a surprise that small forward Paul George was traded this summer, where he landed caught some people off guard. Oklahoma City managed to acquire George from the Indiana Pacers, and on Tuesday he arrived in Oklahoma City as a member of the Thunder for the first time.

George was greeted at the airport by cheering fans who also chanted “PG” as he approached the gate.

Pairing George with NBA MVP Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City will look to re-establish itself as a championship contender in a Western Conference that’s gotten tougher this offseason. Another subplot for the 2017-18 season is the fact that it’s a contract year for George, with the Lakers long being pegged as his future home.

Could a good season in Oklahoma City persuade George to re-up with the Thunder? That remains to be seen, but Tuesday’s reception isn’t a bad way to make a first impression.
