Should Micah Parsons decide to attend Ohio State, he won’t end up being J.T. Barrett‘s teammate. However, the defensive end recruit nonetheless made things awkward between he and likely one of the schools he’s considering to attend.

Parsons tweeted about the Buckeyes being better off benching the senior quarterback for Dwayne Haskins and did this while on a visit to Columbus, Ohio during the Ohio State-Oklahoma game. Understandably, this is a thing despite Parsons not yet being affiliated with the program. The five-star prospect has yet to make a final decision, but it’s kind of clear the Buckeyes are one of the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania gridiron prodigy’s favorite teams.

Parsons tweeted an apology on Sunday morning, but this came up in an Urban Meyer press conference.

Meyer cannot comment on a recruit by name, but the Ohio State coach did say he was “made aware of” the tweet by Parsons.

Ohio State marked the first visit for Parsons, a 6-3, 235-pound defensive end whom 247Sports.com rates as the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2018 class. Specifically, the site tabs Parsons as its No. 1 weakside defensive end, a label assigned to top pass-rushing recruits, in the nation as well.

So, Parsons has plenty of options if the Ohio State route doesn’t pan out. Given Parsons’ stature, it’s unlikely the program stops recruiting the defender because of the tweet. However, Jeremy Birmingham of LandOf10.com reports some Ohio State players were “pissed” about Parsons’ post regarding the aforementioned Barrett.
