It’s been a bizarre 24 hours for the Washington Nationals, so it seems fitting that a walk-off grand slam would be how the festivities come to a close.
After a three-hour rain delay at the start of the game on Saturday, followed by what appeared to be a serious knee injury to Bryce Harper, the two teams still had a doubleheader to play Sunday.
On top of all that, the second game went to extra innings. One of the newest Nationals, Howie Kendrick, wanted to let everyone get some rest finally, so he sent them home skipping on his first career grand slam.

Kendrick now has nine RBI’s in his 12 games since joining Washington from Philadelphia.
The win puts the Nationals 14 games up in the National League East.
