The Edmonton Oilers absolutely dominated the San Jose Sharks for the final two periods and overtime in Game 5 in Edmonton on Thursday night. It all culminated with a David Desharnais game-winning overtime goal late in the first overtime.

Edmonton scored the first goal of the game, but San Jose responded with three consecutive goals to take a decisive lead in the waning minutes of the second period. However, Mark Letestu brought the Oilers within one with 1:27 remaining in the period. The Oilers outshot San Jose 21 to 12 in the second and third periods.
It was all Edmonton in the third period and they finally tied the game with fewer than three minutes remaining in regulation on Oscar Klefbom’s second goal of the postseason.
