During his bout with Derek Campos at Bellator 181 Friday night, lightweight Brandon Girtz suffered a nasty cut on his forehead as a result of his being kneed by Campos in the first round. Said cut bore a slight resemblance to Air Jordan’s Jumpman logo, and it would end up costing Girtz a shot at the victory.
The cut was bad enough that the doctor stopped the fight after the second round, with Campos being declared the winner by TKO. As a result Campos moved to 19-6-0 in his MMA career, while Girtz dropped to 14-7-0. Friday was the third meeting between the two, with Campos winning the first fight at Bellator 96 in June 2013 and Girtz winning the second at Bellator 146 in November 2015.
