Nine Games Stand Between Kentucky and Perfect Season

The Wildcats are shooting for 40-0.

College Basketball Today

The Kentucky Wildcats may be used to their perch atop the college basketball world, but being number one when the NCAA Tournament concludes is all that matters for John Calipari’s crew today.

The Wildcats are nine games away from perfection. Winning the SEC Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, will solidify Kentucky’s wire-to-wire top ranking this season and make them the first team since the 1990-1991 UNLV Runnin’ Rebels to accomplish that feat.

The final AP Poll of the season will be announced after conference tournaments conclude on Selection Sunday. After dropping a heartbreaker in Louisville, the Virginia Cavaliers dropped one spot to No. 3 in the poll, but like their ACC rivals Duke, appear heading toward a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Davidson (No. 24) enters the AP Rankings for the first time since 2008 while Boise State (No.25) makes their debut as well this week.

After Kentucky, Duke, and Virginia which team is the most deserving of a top seed?
