The NFL doesn’t go quiet for long, and on the day that free agency officially began, it was the trade market that stole headlines on Tuesday.
The Seattle Seahawks acquired tight end Jimmy Graham from the Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles traded Nick Foles for Sam Bradford and the Ravens traded Haloti Ngata to the Lions in a trio of moves.
The biggest blockbuster of the day is no doubt the Seahawks trade. The Seahawks acquired Graham and a 4th round pick for center Max Unger and a first rounder. Over at Today’s Pigskin, Jacob Westerndorf considers Russell Wilson the biggest winner of the deal.
In a head-scratcher to some, the Eagles acquired Sam Bradford for Nick Foles in a swap of starting quarterbacks with the Rams. The Eagles are involved in plenty of rumors regarding Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota; perhaps this is the first step into that happening. For the Rams, Foles is a clear upgrade over Bradford, who has struggled to stay healthy.
Finally, the Lions moved on from Ndamukong Suh and replaced him with Ravens DT Haloti Ngata. The Lions sent a fourth- and fifth-round pick to the Ravens to complete the deal.
Stay tuned to Today’s Pigskin for the latest NFL coverage, as the news won’t be slowing down.
