The Ravens and the Steelers meet on November 6th, and LB Terrell Suggs will be on the field for the game – at least if he has anything to say about it. He recently retuned to practice and then told the press he’d play against the division rival.
Suggs has a torn bicep, so he was naturally asked why he didn’t just go to IR, why he felt the need to play through it. He said:
“I don’t go on IR unless I tear an Achilles.”
That is the type of tough attitude the Ravens may need this year if they’re going to turn things around. After winning their first three, they’ve lost the next four in a row. They’ll have to beat the Steelers if they want to get back to .500.
It’s also worth noting that they have the bye week between now and then. It gives Suggs a bit more time to heal so that he can feel as good as possible for that game. While he won’t be 100 percent, it’s not like he has to go out and play this Thursday.
While he probably didn’t mean it this way, he is also sort of calling out LB Elvis Dumervil. He has been unable to play through a foot injury. He did return briefly, but things didn’t go well, and he headed back to the sidelines. The team deactivated him for the loss to the Jets this Sunday. Again, it doesn’t appear that anything was meant by this comment – Suggs was also deactivated against the Jets – but it may light a fire under Dumervil to show that he too can play through an injury.
