The Baltimore Orioles have officially activated right-handed relief pitcher Stefan Crichton from their 10-day disabled list, the club announced on Monday afternoon. However, the Orioles then promptly optioned him down Triple-A Norfolk in order to avoid making a corresponding roster move.

Crichton was previously forced to the sideline due to a strained right shoulder.

With all of his appearances during the 2017 campaign coming between April and June, the up-and-coming right-hander last made appearance for the Orioles back on June 25. Even so, the 25-year-old has made a total of just eight appearances for the Orioles thus far into the 2017 regular season.

Currently in the midst of his first big-league campaign as well, Crichton now owns a whopping 8.03 ERA atop the highest level. Amassing a total of 12.1 innings of work as it stands today, he has allowed 26 hits, 11 earned runs, two home runs and four walks in all. Posting one hold alongside eight strikeouts, he has yet to notch his first major league win, loss, save or blown save.

Entering play on Monday evening against the 45-46 Texas Rangers, the Orioles will be sporting a disappointing 42-49 record. As a result of their struggles early on, the Orioles currently find themselves in a tie for last place in the American League East Division alongside the rival Toronto Blue Jays. Heading into their looming matchup on Monday evening, Baltimore will be coming off of three consecutive losses at the hands of the defending World Series Champion Chicago Cubs.
