When the Detroit Lions face the Houston Texans, they’re expecting to have RB Theo Riddick, TE Eric Ebron, and RB Dwayne Washington. The team is finally getting healthy, and they’ll get quite a haul of players back all at once.
Ebron, who has had ankle and knee issues, has been out for three games in a row – all victories for the Lions. Riddick has been out for two, and he had a sprained ankle. Washington has also been gone for the last two games.
Ebron and Riddick are both good targets for Lions’ QB Matt Stafford. Riddick is a very good receiving back and the Lions have absolutely been decimated with injuries at the RB position this season. Washington will be more of the traditional runner on Sunday.
Of course, the key to the whole thing is Stafford. The Lions have been winning even with these guys on the sidelines because he’s playing very good football. In the past three games – all wins – he has thrown eight touchdowns and no interceptions. That came after he threw seven touchdown and four picks to start the year. Even the 7-4 ratio isn’t terrible, but it has been very clear for about a month now that the team can win only if he plays perfectly. Now, they simply hope he can keep that up and even raise his level of play with more weapons around him.
The Texans are coming off of a dismal loss to the Broncos and are in danger of losing their top spot in the AFC South.
