Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez and New York Mets right-handed starting pitcher Jacob deGrom have won the MLB Player of the Week award for their respective leagues, according to Major League Baseball’s official Twitter account.
Ramirez was an absolute monster for the Indians last week, posting a slash line of .516/.545/1.065 with three home runs and an incredible eight doubles. He has recorded at least one extra-base hit in each of his last six games.
The 24-year-old is also having a terrific season overall.
Ramirez currently owns a slash line of .313/.369/.546, connecting on 11 long balls while driving in 34 runs. He has also racked up 21 doubles.
It’s Ramirez’s second impressive season in a row.

Ramirez broke into the league with the Indians in 2013, but he is just now starting to come into his own.
deGrom went 2-0 for the Mets last week, throwing 17 innings and allowing just one earned run on eight hits while striking out 12 batters.
He pitched a complete game in a win over the Chicago Cubs last Monday.
Those two starts came after deGrom was rocked in back-to-back outings on May 31 and June 6 when he pitched eight innings and surrendered 15 runs on 18 hits, issuing six walks.
Overall, deGrom has had a mediocre season, owning a 6-3 record with a 3.94 ERA over 14 starts. He has, however, tallied 106 strikeouts across 89 innings of work.
The Indians are 36-31 and sit in first place in the American League Central Division.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 31-37 and sit 10.5 games behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East Division.
