2017 recruiting prospect and initial Ole Miss commit JaMarko Pickett will not be a member of the program next season, a source told FanRag Sports on Friday. The program granted the player his release.
According to most reputable recruiting service outlets, Pickett is a top 100 prospect in the 2017 class. He was projected to be at least a solid player for Ole Miss in the 2017-18 college basketball season.
Earlier in the year, FanRag Sports reported that Utah, UNLV, Ole Miss, and Rice will headline the 2017 MGM Grand Main Event in Las Vegas. Utah will play Ole Miss and UNLV will face Rice on Monday Nov. 20 with the winners and losers facing each other on Wednesday Nov. 22.
Back in May, FanRag Sports learned that Cullen Neal committed to the Saint Mary’s Gaels. A pretty big loss for the Rebels, as Neal avveraged 9.4 points per game last season. He would also shoot 41 percent from the floor and 41 percent from beyond the arc.
It is currently unclear what the future plans are for Pickett.
The Rebels finished last season with an overall record of 22-14, but failed to make the NCAA Tournament.
