The Cleveland Cavaliers took Game 3 on their home floor to win their second game in a row over the Golden State Warriors to take a 2-1 series lead in the NBA Finals. LeBron James led all players with 40 points, and now has 123 points through three games after dropping 44 in Game 1 and 39 in Game 2.
The Cavaliers led most of the game, winning each of the first three quarters before the Warriors made a late comeback in the fourth. Despite scoring 36 points in the final quarter (they failed to score more than 20 points in any other quarter), the Warriors fell 96-91.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors in points with 27, followed by Andre Iguodala with 15 and Klay Thompson with 14. David Lee was their only other players in double figures with 11 points.
Aside from LeBron, Cleveland had three other players in double figures, Matthew Dellavedova (20), J.R. Smith (10) and Tristan Thompson (10).
Poor shooting doomed the Warriors as they shot only 40 percent from the field and 58 percent from the free throw line. Not even the 3-pointers were falling as well on Tuesday, as the Cavaliers shot 43 percent from long range as opposed to Golden State’s 35 percent.
Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday night at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
