The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled outfielder Magneuris Sierra from Double-A Springfield and have placed fellow outfielder Stephen Piscotty on the 10-day disabled list, according to Derrick Goold of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Sierra has already appeared in eight games with the Cardinals’ major-league team this season, posting a slash line of .375/.429/.375 with three RBI and eight runs scored over a small sample size of 35 plate appearances.

He has also played for both Single-A Palm Beach and Double-A Springfield in the minors this year.

At Single-A Palm Beach, the 21-year-old slashed .272/.337/.407 with four triples and nine RBI across 89 trips to the plate.

For Double-A Springfield, Sierra has registered a slash line of .293/.326/.403, connecting with one long ball and driving in 23 runs over 194 plate appearances.

Sierra has been in the Cardinals’ system since 2013 and owns a lifetime minor-league slash line of .297/.343/.386.

Piscotty, who is dealing with a groin strain, has struggled this season after a breakout 2016 campaign.

The 26-year-old currently owns a slash line of .236/.348/.371 with six home runs and 31 RBI in 273 trips to the dish.

Last year, Piscotty slashed .273/.343/.457 and homered 22 times while knocking in 85 runs. Additionally, he racked up 35 doubles.

He was originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 45th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft. However, he failed to sign, and three years later, he was chosen by the Cardinals in the first round (36th pick overall) of the draft.

Piscotty broke into the majors in 2015, slashing .305/.359/.494 with seven dingers and 39 RBI over 256 plate appearances en route to finishing sixth in National League Rookie of the Year voting.
