Andrew Wiggins was named the 2015 NBA Rookie of the Year on Thursday, a feat that no Minnesota Timberwolves rookie has ever accomplished.
Wiggins, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ No. 1 overall pick traded for Kevin Love, was given 110 out of 130 possible first place votes for the award after leading all rookies in scoring (16.9) and minutes (36.2), while finishing top-10 in rebounds (5th), assists (7th) and steals (4th).
Wiggins played in–and started–all 82 games this season en route to accomplishing what Kevin Garnett, Love and every Timberwolves rookie before him couldn’t do.
Chicago Bulls foward Nikola Mirotic finished second with 14 first-place votes. Philadelphia 76ers rookie Nerlens Noel finished third with three first-place votes.
