According to a Wednesday afternoon report from Yahoo! Sports’ Ball Don’t Lie, two NBA players have been fined for their actions from Monday evening. While both Dallas Mavericks’ swingman Justin Anderson and New York Knicks’ big man Kyle O’Qunn have been fined $25,000, each has avoided a suspension for making contact with their respective opponents.

As a result of his incident, Anderson was fined for striking Minnesota Timberwolves’ point guard Kris Dunn. Anderson connected with Dunn’s head as he went up for a lay-up while it initially seemed as though the Mavericks’ swingman was going for the basketball and just missed.

However, upon further review, Anderson clearly came nowhere near the basketball on the play:

On the other hand, O’Quinn was ejected and did receive a Flagrant 2 foul while fellow Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony was also ejected from the same outing against the New Orleans Pelicans. O’Quinn was fined for his seemingly unnecessarily hard foul against Pelicans’ center Anthony Davis while the game was already well out of reach for the Knicks.

The aforementioned report also noted that O’Quinn was specifically cited for “striking and pushing down.”

Both the Mavericks and Knicks currently sit below the .500 mark as these incidents surely aren’t helping either team’s progress. While the Knicks are now 17-21, the Mavericks own the worst record in the entire Western Conference at 11-27 on the year. However, during Monday’s outing against the Pelicans, the Knicks appeared to become the most dysfunctional team in professional sports as they literally lost track of point guard Derrick Rose.
