MVP Gone: Durant Done for Season

NBA Today

Oklahoma City Thunder forward and reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant will undergo bone graft surgery causing him to miss the remainder of the regular season and upcoming playoffs. Durant is expected to be out of action between four and six months.

The news was not totally out of the blue, but disappointing nonetheless for a Thunder team fighting for their playoff lives in the Western Conference. OKC currently has a three game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the eighth and final seed. Durant played in 27 games this season and was averaging 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per contest.

NBA players and fans were upset by the news and took to social media to express their best wishes for one of the league’s great guys.
