Slotted as the Washington Nationals‘ No. 8 hitter tonight, Michael Taylor delivered a seismic grand slam off lockdown Chicago Cubs closer Wade Davis to induce some fans to funnel out of Wrigley Field with Game 4’s home team down 5-0.
Joe Maddon summoned Davis after Carl Edwards Jr. threw a first-pitch ball with two outs in the eighth inning, and despite having delivered in big postseason spots for the Royals previously, Davis couldn’t this time. Taylor’s grand slam essentially ensured there will be a Game 5 in this NLDS series.

Davis had not allowed a grand slam as a reliever, only doing so during a failed 2013 experiment as a Royals starter.

This was Taylor’s first postseason home run and 20th overall this year.
