Max Scherzer Throws No-Hitter

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer lost his perfect game with two outs in the ninth inning when he hit Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata, however he got the very next batter to fly out to left field to complete the no-hitter.

Many believe Tabata leaned into the pitch.

It was the second no-hitter of the season (289th no-hitter in baseball history) — San Francisco Giants rookie pitcher Chris Heston had one earlier this season.

Scherzer threw 106 pitches in his complete-game effort that included 10 strikeouts. The Pirates had won 21 of their last 27 games coming into Saturday. The Nationals came away with the 6-0 victory.
