Kevin Love out 4-6 Months After Surgery

Any doubt about Kevin Love’s timetable to return after dislocating his shoulder against the Boston Celtics were put to rest after the Cavaliers forward underwent surgery to repair his shoulder, sidelining him for 4-6 months.

Love injured his shoulder on a controversial play in the first round–the first playoff round of his career–after being tangled up with Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk. The two players were going for a loose ball in the first quarter when Olynyk caught Love’s arm and pulled it hard enough to pop the shoulder out of its joint.

The surgery brings an end to Love’s up-and-down season with the Cavaliers. He can opt out of his contract after the season and become a free agent. One of his rumored potential destinations was Boston, but it’s unclear how this incident impacts that possibility. Love felt Olynyk intentionally injured him.

The Cavaliers will face either the Milwaukee Bucks or Chicago Bulls next series.
