Jose Abreu waited until April 29 to hit his first home run of 2017, but on Friday night, he lifted off for the longest home run of the season for any Chicago player this year.
Landing 464 feet from the dish, Abreu took Seattle Mariners starter Ariel Miranda deep into the Pacific Northwest night. The blast was such a no-doubter that shortstop Jean Segura didn’t even see a need to get out of stance. Left fielder Guillermo Heredia gave the ball a courtesy jog, just to realize he wasn’t going to catch it with a pool net. That dude in the upper deck caught it, though.
