Fox Sports commentator Joe Buck misidentified the girlfriend of U.S. Open winner Brooks Koepka on Sunday, mistakenly referring to Jena Sims as Koepka’s ex-girlfriend, Becky Edwards, while Koepka and Sims were sharing a celebratory kiss.

Buck took to The Dan Patrick Show on Monday morning to discuss the faux pas, saying he has done “way worse.”

“Morale’s good,” said Buck when jokingly asked by Patrick how his spirits were after the error. “I’m happy that a long week of golf is in the books, and obviously with your boy Brooks, we now all know who he’s dating, especially me. That’s exciting. I wasn’t up on that information.”

Patrick then proceeded to play clips of Buck’s mistake and correction.

“It was all a mess, but I mean, you know, I’ve done way worse things than this, that’s the funny thing, but it was before the age of Twitter and kind of clickbait kind of stuff,” said Buck.

Buck recalled an incident a while back when he was interviewing MLB infielder Tony Womack at the end of a Division Series game and mistook Womack’s wife for his mother.

“Truth be told, I couldn’t really see, but we had just been talking about how he (Womack) lost his dad on Father’s Day that year. And he’s hugging this woman, and I said ‘Hey, Tony, I can’t imagine how that feels. Who are you hugging down there, is that your mom?’ And then the needle came off the record and he goes ‘No, that’s my wife!'”

Buck said it was quickly water under the bridge, though.

“I actually sent her flowers and went down and apologized. And he was great about it, and so was she. But that to me is way worse than anything that happened yesterday.”

Agreed, Joe.
