If you can’t beat them, sign them. At least that seems to be the New York Jets motto this offseason.
The Jets added another former Patriots player with the signing of running back Stevan Ridley. It’s reportedly a one-year deal in an effort for Ridley to re-establish himself after tearing his ACL and MCL last season.
Ridley joins Darrelle Reavis as another former Patriot player that the Jets added this offseason. Ridley will be a member of a crowded backfield with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell in New York.
The running back is two years removed from easily his best season of his career. Ridley rushed for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012, but fumbling issues forced him into Bill Belichick’s doghouse as other running backs emerged. In six games, Ridley rushed for just 340 yards on 94 attempts.
Ridley posted this on his Twitter and Instagram today.
Sending love to all my day one fans, and every teammate I've had the pleasure to take the field with.… https://t.co/rizTazn8BG

The Patriots also lost Shane Vereen this offseason, leaving LaGarrette Blount and Jonas Gray to man the backfield. Blount is suspended for the season opener.
