Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy scored a goal for the 11th consecutive match on Saturday, setting a new Premier League record for most consecutive games with a goal. The goal was his 14th in the Premier League this season. He broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s previous record.
In a bit of irony, Vardy passed van Nistelrooy by scoring on the striker’s former team, Manchester United. Van Nistelrooy set his record in 2003.
Vardy is the first player to score in 11 consecutive English top-flight games since Blackpool’s Stan Mortensen did it in 1950-51. Sheffield United’s Jimmy Dunne hold the all-time record with goals in 12 consecutive games during the 1931-32 Division One season.
