Croatian winger Ivan Perisic has officially renewed his pact with Italy’s Inter Milan, the club formally announced on Friday morning. As a result of sticking with Inter Milan, Perisic will now remain on Italian soil until June 30, 2022.
The Serie A club’s official statement regarding the matter reads as follows:
“FC Internazionale Milano are happy to announce that Ivan Perisic has renewed his contract and will remain with the Nerazzurri until 30th June 2022!
“Born in Split on 2nd February 1989, Ivan joined Inter during the 2015-16 season. He has since gone on to make 81 appearances in Serie A, domestic cups and the Europa League. He has scored 20 goals for Inter but the story won’t end here…”
It is also worth noting that the presence of Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti helped sway the Croatian footballer’s decision in the end.
“It’s a special day, it’s certainly emotional and I’m happy after the stress of this summer,” Perisic told the club’s official website upon signing his new deal on Friday morning.
“Now, we can look forward and I’m only thinking about Inter. After signing, the pitch is the only thing left for me to think about. For a long time I didn’t give quotes, I can now say that I had already spoken with Spalletti in pre-season and he told me that I can be an even better player with him.
“Handanovic also spoke to me about Spalletti from their time at Udinese and he only had good things to say about him. We did well in our first two matches and now we have to continue in the same way. There are always a lot fans who turn up and it’s better for us like that. It will be easier with their support.”
