The Los Angeles Dodgers renewed the contracts of a pair of their young players in outfielder Joc Pederson at $555,000 and shortstop Corey Seager at $575,000, FanRag Sports has learned.

Seager is coming off having won the National League Rookie of the Year and finishing third overall in the National League MVP Award race. In his first full major league season, he batted .308 with a .365 on-base percentage. He also hit 26 home runs and 72 RBIs, finishing the year with 193 hits.

He only got stronger as the season went on, batting .320 in the second half of the campaign. Once he officially made the switch in the Los Angeles lineup to the second spot in the order, he batted .320 in that role as well.

At home in Dodger Stadium, Seager clubbed 18 of his 26 home runs, while batting 24 points better at Chavez Ravine.

His teammate and fellow young gun in the Dodgers’ lineup is center fielder Pederson, who also had his contract renewed for 2017. Pederson was an All-Star during the 2015 season, finishing sixth in the National League Rookie of the Year race of his own.

Playing in 137 games in 2016, Pederson batted .246/.352/.495 with 25 home runs and 68 RBIs. But despite his home run prowess, just one of those blasts came against southpaws. Pederson batted .269 against right-handed pitching, while hitting just .125 against lefties. For his career, 44 of his 51 home runs have came against righties as the Dodgers have developed one of their former top prospects into their starting center fielder.

As a rookie, Pederson made $510,000, followed by making $520,000 last season. His pay increase has jumped up $555,000 for next season.
