GoDaddy Drops Sponsorship of Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick will need a new sponsor for her NASCAR Sprint Cup car after her current sponsor GoDaddy announced it would be dropping the sponsorship.

GoDaddy said they’re going in a different marketing direction and that NASCAR does not fit in those current plans.

“NASCAR has been a tremendous domestic platform to help us achieve an 81 percent aided brand awareness domestically, but at this stage, we need a range of marketing assets that reach a more globally-diverse set of customers,” GoDaddy chief marketing officer Phil Bienert said in a news release.

Patrick has been sponsored by GoDaddy since 2010 during her transition from IndyCar to NASCAR. She moved to NASCAR full time in 2013.

Patrick is in her third year in NASCAR. She finished 27th and 28th her first two years in the standings, but she’s improved to 16th this year. Her NASCAR career is highlighted by a third place finish at Indianapolis 500 in 2009 and an eighth place finish at the Daytona 500 in 2013.
