While previously stating that he intends to play as a result of the 2017-18 campaign, free-agent NFL running back DeAngelo Williams has now narrowed his list of potential landing spots down to a resounding 28 teams. With four teams now officially off his radar going forward, Williams recently announced which teams should not even bother during an interview with Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The veteran rusher has publicly ruled out the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 34-year-old running back notably began his career with the Panthers back in 2006-07. He was originally selected by Carolina in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Memphis. However, he has spent the last two seasons as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, which immediately followed his nine-year stint in Carolina.

On the other hand, he has ruled out both the Browns and Jaguars due to their lack of recent success, which hardly comes as a surprise. In addition, Williams stated that his childhood love for the San Francisco 49ers could not possibly allow him to join the aforementioned Cowboys, a team that is certainly solidified in the backfield.

A veteran of the game, Williams most recently appeared in nine regular-season games as a member of the Steelers in 2016-17. Carrying the football just 98 times as the backup to Steelers starting running back LeVeon Bell, he rushed for a total of 343 yards and four touchdowns in all. For his NFL career, Williams has rushed for 8,096 yards and 61 touchdowns on 1,730 carries.
