The Baltimore Ravens lost wide receiver Torrey Smith and tight end Owen Daniels to free agency and released Jacoby Jones. Tight end Dennis Pitta’s playing status for 2015 is in question. This leaves the Ravens with 35-year old Steve Smith Sr. and a bevy of unproven pass catchers.
However, quarterback Joe Flacco is not too worried about the situation. In fact, he is unsure if his team even needs to draft a wide receiver.
“We have a great group of guys,” Flacco told the Baltimore Sun. “Obviously, without Torrey now, the one thing we probably don’t have as much of is that speed, is that one guy who can stretch the field. But I’m not going to say we need it. I think we got really good guys and I think we’re good with who we have. If that’s where we go, that’s where we go. I trust these guys to get somebody good. I think we’ve got a good group and we are good with where we are.”
Marlon Brown, Michael Campanaro and Kamar Aiken are the next group of receivers Flacco has to work with — all unproven talents. Should the Ravens draft a wide receiver, there will be a plethora of options available in the first two rounds.
