Durant Could Be Shut Down for Season

NBA Today

Oklahoma City Thunder star and 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant has been removed from basketball activities and could be shut down for the rest of the season.

General Manager Sam Presti announced the decision today during a press conference as a precautionary response to Durant’s continued discomfort.

Right now, we’ve decided to take him off the floor so the people who are the experts can make the [medical] determination,” Presti said. “When he’s able to play without that soreness, he’ll be back on the floor.”

The Thunder currently have a one-game lead over the New Orleans Pelicans for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. While Russell Westbrook has been phenomenal in Durant’s absence, OKC will need their franchise player if they hope to make a serious postseason run.
