To absolutely no one’s surprise, the Duke Blue Devils are still at the top of the Associated Press’ latest top 25 poll. Duke was the No. 1 team in the preseason poll for the second straight year and the ninth time overall, matching the North Carolina Tar Heels for the most in NCAA history.

The Blue Devils have gotten off to a 2-0 start this season after defeating Elon and Utah Valley, giving head coach Mike Krzyzewski 1,000 wins as the head coach for the school.

“It’s pretty awesome to be a part of two pretty historic moments for Coach,” said senior guard Grayson Allen, according to John Marshall of The Associated Press. “This one being in Cameron, felt a lot more love for Coach and I think this one was the coolest just because of the fan support and being at home.”

Duke received 33 first-place votes. Coming in behind Duke was Michigan State, which received 13 first-place votes. Here’s the best part, though, Duke and Michigan State will battle on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. The Arizona Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks and Kentucky Wildcats are currently rounding out the top five while Arizona received 18 first-place votes and Kansas receiving one. The Villanova Wildcats, Wichita State Shockers, Florida Gators, North Carolina Tar Heels and Southern California Trojans finished off the top 10, respectively.

With the early portion of the college basketball season barely underway, it remains to be seen as to where the majority of these teams come in after this week’s slate.
