Don’t worry — Steve Smith’s confidence hasn’t gone anywhere

Steve Smith’s playing days are finished. The brash confidence that made the 5-foot-9 dynamo a star for the Carolina Panthers, though, clearly hasn’t gone anywhere in retirement.

During NFL Network’s pregame show for Thursday’s game between the Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles, Bill Cowher asked Smith, now a television analyst, who was the “best receiver on this field tonight.” His answer is exactly what anyone who followed Smith’s career knew it would be.

Classic. Based on his show-stopping play over the first five games of the season, though, Eagles wideout Nelson Agholor might have something to say about that.
