Devin Funchess atones for Curtis Samuel’s TD drop

For a few real-life minutes, the Carolina Panthers were held without a touchdown they probably should have had. But three game seconds later, they made up for it and got their seven points anyway.

Devin Funchess caught a smoke screen pass from Cam Newton and strolled 28 yards for a touchdown, inflating the Panthers’ lead to 24-7 on the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins caught a break a play earlier when Curtis Samuel dropped a touchdown pass, but Funchess’ catch-and-run bailed the home team out and put the visitors further in a hole.

As he was falling after dropping the pass, Samuel appeared to injure his left ankle. Carolina trainers took the rookie to the locker room just prior to Funchess’ score.
