DeMarco Murray Leaves Dallas for Philadelphia

Eagles vs. Cowboys is always interesting but the ante has been upped by Murray.

NFL Today

Anytime an NFC East team can stick it to the Dallas Cowboys in any fashion people take notice. When the Philadelphia Eagles lured free agent running back and 2014 NFL Rushing Leader, DeMarco Murray away from Big D the internet nearly broke again.

According to reports the Eagles landed Murray by offering what the Cowboys couldn’t–more guaranteed money. Murray agreed to a five-year $42M deal with Philadelphia, including $21M guaranteed according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen.

The signing of Murray clouds the three-year, $11.5M deal another free agent running back, Ryan Mathews agreed to with the Eagles yesterday.

The Murray acquisition caps off what is arguably the wildest period ever for most Eagles fans. Just last week the team traded Pro-Bowl running back and fan-favorite LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills and then when free agency opened on Tuesday afternoon the franchise traded away quarterback Nick Foles for former first-overall pick and Murray’s teammate in Oklahoma, Sam Bradford.

Bradford immediately began actively recruiting Murray to Philadelphia, but the ball didn’t really get rolling until the All-Pro RB contacted head coach Chip Kelly personally.
